  Mom's Peach Cobbler
Carmela Heard's love for baking was taught to her by her Italian mother who was known within her community for her wide variety of traditional homemade desserts.

Here is my Mom's simple but delicious Peach Cobbler. A perfect time of the season for something peachy!

Ingredients

Filling:

2 Cups Peeled Peaches (6 – 7 Medium Size Peaches)
½ Cup Sugar (I use ¼ cup)
2 Tablespoons Flour
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon Butter (Can Use More)

Dough:

2 Cups Flour
½ Teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Sugar
4 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Stick Butter (1/2 Cup)
1 Beaten Egg
¾ Cup Milk

 

Directions

Prepare filling:

  • Butter an 8" square pan or 10" pie dish.
  • Place peaches in buttered baking dish.
  • Sprinkle mixture of sugar and flour on peaches.
  • Add lemon juice.
  • Dot with butter.

Prepare dough:

  • In a small bowl, mix together flour, salt, sugar and baking powder.
  • Cut butter into flour mixture.
  • Add milk & beaten egg
  • Stir until moistened.
  • With a tablespoon, drop dough in mounds all over peaches.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.

    If serving hot:
  • Place on rack to cool 10 minutes before serving.
  • Scoop desired portions into a bowl and top with vanilla ice cream.
